Mouli Roy is a dedicated researcher and Ph.D. scholar in Manuscriptology at the Language Department of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. Her doctoral research focuses on manuscripts from the Mughal period, reflecting her deep engagement with India’s rich textual heritage. She holds a Master’s degree in Sanskrit and a postgraduate qualification in Manuscriptology, equipping her with both linguistic expertise and technical knowledge of ancient scripts.
Proficient in reading multiple scripts such as Brahmi, Sharada (Sarada), Newari, and Grantha, Mouli’s scholarly interests span the study, interpretation, and preservation of traditional manuscripts. She has published two research papers—“Brihannala in the History of Past and Present (Ekal o Sekaler Itihase Brihannala)” and “The Position of Women in the Mahabharata (Mahabharate Narider Abasthan)”—which highlight her analytical depth and commitment to gender and historical studies within classical literature.
Mouli has also collaborated with the Indian Historical Archive and Research (IHAR) team on projects at Joykrishna Library and Sri Chaitanya Library, where her work focused on assessing the condition and preservation needs of old books and manuscripts. Looking ahead, she aspires to integrate AI technology into the fields of manuscript conservation, preservation, restoration, and digitization, bridging traditional scholarship with modern innovation to safeguard India’s manuscript legacy for future generations.
